Colli Berici DOC

The Berici Hills are in the area to the south of Vicenza. Villas, villages, monasteries, convents tell the story of these hills, where man has always cultivated the vine and the olive tree. Here the wine is history.

LThe limestone soils with red clay and basaltic volcanic ones, the altitude that distances mists and late frosts, low annual precipitation. These are the environmental aspects that make the wines of character and personality.

A nature that is found in the glass as the study confirms that zoning Veneto Agriculture has developed in collaboration with the Consortium of DOC Wines Berici, the Province of Vicenza and the Chamber of Commerce of Vicenza. The result is the publication of the Guide of the territory, a tool that helps to understand differences and identity of this territory. zonazioneMap_BigThe study of zoning has carefully examined soils and climatic conditions of the areas under vines of Berici and implemented various trials of winemaking. The territory was then divided into different areas according to climate, the morphology of the terrain and climatic elements. Have been identified as eleven different areas, each with specific characteristics, which in wines translate into sensory profiles unique to each other.

The study highlighted two areas dedicated to the production of Tai Rosso Barbarano and Lonigo, which in different territories reflect their uniqueness.

The kinetics of maturation show a general precocity for both sugars for claimable acidity, levels sugary more acidic and lower envelopes for this unit.

The kinetics of maturation show a general precocity for both sugars for claimable acidity, levels sugary more acidic and lower envelopes for this unit.

Oenological Characteristics

The wines of this unit register a high alcohol content, pH and total polyphenols and anthocyanins (high values of total flavonoids and that of non-anthocyanin), while TR2 is less than the total acidity. The sensory profile expressed by the wines of this unit shows a line broad and balanced with marked notes of spice and raspberry.

Average maturation at the beginning with gradual raising of accumulation kinetics.

The sugar and pH values pH show lower measurements to the  TR1 unit and higher organic acid indexes.

Oenological Characteristics

The wines made from grapes of this unit show a lower alcohol content and pH while the upper one is acidic; slightly lower than the mean values appear in anthocyanins and total polyphenols. The sensory profile of these wines is quite balanced but little large; the taste is felt more acidity.
